Our
sandstone is classified like arenaceous feldespática-arkose,
whose main element is the quartz (40-70%), feldspars (10-30%), micas
and argillaceous matrix (10-20%) that acts as the cement .This last
does not appear alone; the grains are united by the effect of the
argillaceous matrix, textural characteristic of the sandstone.
The
superficial oxidation caused by the small proportion of oxides,
hydroxides of iron and small gold fragments that provide the red-golden
tone causes of the great spectacle of this stone when it is illuminated
by the sun.
